Once upon a time there lived a girl who had no idea about food. She hated grocery shopping, burned her pasta, and ate whatever happened to be lying around the house. Then she went to graduate school where she found she couldn’t find a regular job and in consequence had to go to food banks in order to eat. She discovered through the random collection of foods given to her by the kind food bank folks, the joy of good cooking as well as how to never waste those cans of WHERE DID I GET THIS? found in the back of the cupboard…

While that story is true, it’s not technically how I learned to cook. In fact, I’m not sure how or when I started to love and care so much about my food, but here we are. I’m not a foodie or a gourmet. I simply love food (and wine). I often start planning dinner almost immediately after I finish eating lunch. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and run to my computer to look up a recipe.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that there are few dishes out there that are actually difficult. Cooking or baking, like many things in life, take patience and care and sometimes twenty four hours of it, but in the end, it’s always worth it.

In this index you’ll find that I don’t always measure, I don’t give detailed information about the procedure, sometimes I leave the cooking process to your imagination. I think that’s ok. This blog is more of a collection of things I like to eat, than it is a cookbook.
